The great gatsby summary

A long time ago in(1922 AD).
A man whose name was Nick Carraway-a Yale alumnus who was from the Midwestern united state. He lives in a house which was on rent in the Long Island village of West, next to a luxurious estate inhabited by Jay Gatsby, a mysterious multi-millionaire who hosts impressive soirées yet does not take part in them.

One Day, Nick dines with his disconnected relative, Daisy Buchanan, in the beautiful town of East Egg. Daisy is married to Tom Buchanan, formerly a Yale football star whom Nick knew from his college Times. These couples were freshly moved from Chicago to a colonial mansion directly across the bay from Gatsby's estate. At their mansion, Nick meets Jordan Baker, an impertinent flapper and golf champion who is a childhood friend of Daisy's. Jordan reveals to Nick that Tom keeps a mistress, Myrtle Wilson, who brazenly telephones him at his home and who lives in the "valley of ashes," sprawling refuse slum.[28] That evening, Nick sees Gatsby standing alone on his lawn and staring at a green light across the bay.

After some days later, Nick reluctantly goes with a drunken and perturbed Tom to New York City by train. En-route, they stop at a garage occupy by mechanic George Wilson and his wife Myrtle. Myrtle joins them and the 3 receipts also join them to a small New York house that Tom has rented for meeting with her. Guests come to their house and then the party happens which ends with Tom slapping Myrtle and hurting her by hitting the nose after she mentions Daisy which was so disappointing.

One day Nick receives an invitation to a party at Gatsby's mansion and he was stuck for a while.  Nick feels awkward that he recognizes no one and begins drinking heavily until he meets Jordan. While talking with her, he is approached by a man who initiates himself as Jay Gatsby and insists that both he and Nick served in the 3rd Infantry Division during the world war. Gatsby tries to ingratiate himself to Nick and, when Nick leaves the party, he notices Gatsby watching him.

Belated July, Nick, and Gatsby have lunch at a speakeasy. Gatsby tries to impress Nick with tales of his war bravery and his Oxford days. Eventually, Nick meets Jordan at the Plaza Hotel. She tells that Gatsby and Daisy met around 1917 when Gatsby was an officer in the American Expeditionary Forces. They fell in love but when Gatsby was located overseas, Daisy reluctantly married Tom. Gatsby hopes that his wealth and parties will make Daisy rethink of him. Gatsby uses Nick to point a reunion with Daisy and then the two embark upon an extramarital affair.

While returning to East  Gatsby and Daisy drive by Wilson's garage and their car suddenly hits Tom's mistress, Myrtle, killing her instantly. Gatsby told Nick that it was Daisy who was driving the car but he intends to take the blame for the accident to protect her from any kind of trouble. Nick desire Gatsby to flee to avoid prosecution but he declines.
After Tom tells George that Gatsby owns the car that struck Myrtle, a distressed George assumes the owner of the vehicle must be Myrtle's paramour. George fatally shoots Gatsby in his mansion's swimming pool and then commits suicide also.
In September, Tom discovers the affair when Daisy carelessly addresses Gatsby with brazen intimacy in front of him. Later, at a Plaza Hotel suite, Gatsby and Tom claim about the affair. Gatsby insists that Daisy announces that she never loved Tom. Tom reveals that Gatsby is a swindler whose money comes from rum-running alcohol and by listening this gatsby was so upset.  After hearing this, Daisy makes the decision to stay with Tom. Tom told Gatsby to drive her home, Although knowing that Daisy will never leave him now.
Some days after Gatsby's murder, his father Henry Gatz comes to visit for the sparsely-attended funeral. After Gatsby's death, Nick comes to hate New York and clear that Gatsby, Daisy, Tom, and he were all Westerners unsuited to Eastern life. Nick meets Tom and rejects to shake his hand. Tom confessed that he was the one who told George that Gatsby owned the vehicle which killed Myrtle. Before he back to the Midwest, Nick goes once to Gatsby's mansion one last time and observes across the bay at the green light emanating from the end of Daisy's dock.
